The Stanton Memorial Telugu Baptist Church continues to grow and thrive under the spiritual leadership of Rev. Dr. G. Karuna Sagar, Senior Pastor. Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the congregation has grown to over a three thousand believers, worshiping together in two languages. Rev. Dr. Karuna Sagar’s ministry is marked by humility, dedication, and a deep passion for teaching and shepherding God’s people.
Born on 2nd December 1978 in Nellore District, India, and raised in a devout Christian family, Rev. Dr. Karuna Sagar accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at the age of seventeen. At twenty-one, he received the divine call to serve in ministry — a call he has followed faithfully ever since. His journey is a testimony to God’s guiding hand, equipping him for service both as a pastor and an educator.
He pursued his Bachelor of Theology (1999–2003) and Bachelor of Divinity (2003–2004) from Calvary Baptist Bible College, Mumbai. Later, he completed his Master of Theology in Missiology (2005–2007) from Hindustan Bible Institute and College, Chennai (ATTA University). In addition to his theological studies, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (2010–2012) from Calorx Teachers University, Ahmedabad, and most recently, a Doctor of Ministry (2022–2024) from Andhra Christian Theological College, Hyderabad.
Alongside his pastoral ministry, Rev. Dr. Karuna Sagar has served in the field of Christian education. He was a faculty member at Asian Christian College, Chennai (2007–2009), and later at Baptist Theological College, Downie Hall, Nellore (2016–2022), where he trained and mentored future servants of God. His commitment to shaping lives through both Word and wisdom has left a lasting impact on many students and congregations alike.
Blessed with a supportive partner in ministry, Mrs. G. Hephizbah Suneela, Rev. Dr. Karuna Sagar is also a loving father of three children. Together, they serve the Lord with dedication, embodying the spirit of faith, family, and fellowship.
Under his leadership, Stanton Memorial Telugu Baptist Church continues to grow in strength, unity, and outreach — standing firm in its mission to proclaim Christ and nurture believers. Truly, his life reflects the words of Jesus: “Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant.” (Matthew 20:26)
